Calciomercato: #Cole and #Vidic on their way to the #MLS? And #Borriello...

The winter transfer window may bring to the North American top flight some additions who until recently played in the Italian Serie A.

 After the arrival of top talents like Sebastian Giovinco and Andrea Pirlo last season from Juventus, MLS clubs are fishing in Serie A again.

 Worthy of note are two players who recently rescinded their contracts at the end of an unhappy Italian parenthesis, after arriving from the English Premiership.

 The first is former Serbian international Nemanja Vidic. The former Manchester United central defender rescinded his contract with Inter yesterday, and is being pursued by the Chicago Fire according to respected journalist Matteo Pedrosi.

 The second is former England international Ashley Cole, who plied his trade for Chelsea before his arrival in Rome in 2014. The Englishman also rescinded his contract, leaving AS Roma after a thoroughly disappointing year and a half. According to many respected sources, among whom Gianluca Di Marzio, he is very likely to join the LA Galaxy.

 A third player may enter the mix. A move from Serie A to the MLS is currently construed as a rumour, but there may be something in the works for Carpi's Marco Borriello. The 33 year-old former Genoa, Milan and Juventus striker is unhappy with his limited playing time in Emilia-Romagna.

 According to respected MLS source Anthony Totera, Borriello's most likely MLS destination is the Montreal Impact. Should Didier Drogba not return, the Quebec outfit would have the the will and the ability to sign the Italian. Otherwise, his next destination would be New York, FC side (due to Pirlo's influence). Toronto FC has an outside chance, but TFC brass has excluded new moves, just a few hours ago. Salary Cap space and Designated Player spots will play a significant role in where Borriello ends up, should he land in North America.

After Giovinco, Pirlo, Obafemi Martins, Marco Donadel, Robbie Keane, Kakà, Innocent Emeghara, and Michael Bradley the MLS may get another injection of Serie A influence.

My Champions League Final

On my commute home one cool evening in May I feel my phone buzzing in my jacket's pocket. I pick up. "Hey, man, listen. I've got to tell you something: I've got to go", my friend Jack intimates.
